about

HYPER[BOREA] [lit. "Those who dwell beyond the North Wind”]
It all started back in 1993 when film maker / ambient music composer DAVID BICKLEY came up with the idea of fusing the Irish language with dance music. Samples were made and an arrangement was drawn up with TOM GREEN [TOM GREEN has worked with THE ORB and with his own projects, ANOTHER FINE DAY and STRANGE ATTRACTOR].
Stunning vocalist, lyricist and Irish Language scholar, ÚNA O'BOYLE then came on board and a recording of the now classic “DÚLAMAN” was released. Eventually STARC RECORDS [home of many trad outfits] took up the gauntlet and produced this classic. “SERPENTINE”, which features such luminaries as MÁIRE BREATNACH and DIESEL, went on to win the coveted Dance Act and Album of the Year awards in the HOT PRESS HEINEKEN AWARDS in Belfast.
